Gilmore Girls Dance Moves

Do your kids dance to show theme songs? Well, ours used to. We recently were listening to the opening of Gilmore Girls when we realized that, “Oh, remember when Adelaide used to dance to this?” Where in the world has time gone? It’s definitely a kick to the heart (in a good way) when we remember moments like this. It’s also a little sad knowing how those moments are gone and all we have left are those good memories. True, we still get to watch our kids dance and play, and it’s equally special, but it’s just different.

As a parent, it’s hard to articulate how special those memories are. It’s also tough to realize that, “Holy cow, how did I forget that she used to dance to the Gilmore Girls music?” Parenting is such a full-time, non-stop thing and it’s pretty clear that I can’t remember what sock I wore yesterday, let alone all of the wonderful memories we’ve made together. So, what do we do? How do we keep track of all those memories and avoid forgetting so much? Well, I think it’s always going to happen, but we recently did something simple. We went through a bunch of our digital images and then ordered some. Admittedly, we don’t have many pictures up in our house. So, this is a great way for us to keep hold of those memories.

Pictures Keep Memory Lane Fresh

Now we have a bunch of pictures in frames all over our living room, and we had plenty to let our kids put some in their room. This is such a cool thing, because it lets them remember some of those fun times too. Whether it be a beach trip, times at the pool, or something as simple as playing around the house, they will now have something to remind them of happy moments. Hopefully, we’ll do a good job at continuing to keep photographs around the house. It really does help to brighten my spirits to see them at various ages and different smiles on their faces.

I love my kids, and to see those wacky expressions makes me feel like I’ve done something right along the way. I am sure everyone already has tons of photos around their house, so I’ll just say to keep it up! It presents such a positive vibe in our house and having wonderful reminders of years’ past is such a great thing.

Do you have a favorite picture in your house that always makes you smile? Have anyone else’s kids ever danced to a TV show’s theme song? If so, what was it? Beyond Gilmore Girls, our kids also enjoyed dancing around to Friends. Okay, let’s leave this article imagining our kids once upon a time, dancing to…

“Where you lead, I will follow,
anywhere that you tell me,
if you need, you need me to be with you,
I will follow where you lead.”

“Where You Lead” was written by Carole King and Toni Stern, and appeared on King’s 1971 album, Tapestry. Check out this Buzzfeed article for more history behind the song and its appearance on Gilmore Girls.

Monster Spray to Fight Monsters

One of our kids has been finding it difficult to sleep at bedtime. So, we started to use monster spray, and we added a special ingredient to keep the monsters away.
